The Essentials of Playing Baccarat

Baccarat is a popular casino game that follows strict guidelines. You may see baccarat as a complicated game but in actuality, the baccarat is pretty simple to learn and play. The banker and the player are the two people who are involved in a game of baccarat. But at the baccarat table, there are 14 people or less that bets as to who wins the game, the banker or the player.

The main objective of a baccarat game is to have a total card value that is close as possible to nine. To have a total of more than nine in baccarat is impossible. If a total card value is ten or higher, then ten is subtracted from that total sum, thus leaving only the ones digit.

These are the values of each card in baccarat: Ace = one, two to nine = the card's actual face value, ten to King = zero. If for example, the cards dealt to you in baccarat are four and Queen, then the hand has a total value of four (four plus zero). If the cards dealt are eight and seven, then the total value is five (eight plus seven equals 15 and 15 minus ten equals five).

Every game of baccarat always follows a strict procedure. Both the player and the banker are dealt with two cards in a face down position at the start of a baccarat game. If none of them has a baccarat natural (a total value of eight or nine), the dealt cards are turned over and whichever hand has a total closest to nine wins the game of baccarat. When both hands (the player's and the banker's) have similar total value, it is a draw. The baccarat player's bet is returned.

The flow of the game is decided by the total value of the player's cards, if ever there is no natural. If the player has a total value of six or seven, it is advisable to stand. Or else, taking another card is the next best thing to do.

After the player's turn, it is now the banker's time to act. Every action of the banker is dependent upon the value of the two hole cards and the value of the player's third card. The banker will always stand for the value of seven. On the value of six, the banker takes a card if the player's third card is six or seven. On the value of five, the banker takes a card if the player's third card is four to seven. On the value of four, the banker takes a card if the player's third card is two to seven. On the value of three, the banker takes a card if the player's third card is anything except eight. On the value of two to zero, the banker will always takes a card.

After the banker is done with the moves, both hands are then turned over and whoever has the total value that is close to nine wins the game of baccarat.

The flow of a baccarat game is not that complicated after all. As a popular casino game, many players flocked to a baccarat table to experience the fun and elegance of the game.
